Report: Marcelo to Have Surgery This Friday
Both AS and Punto Pelota are reporting that Marcelo will undergo foot surgery in the Netherlands this Friday. During a Sunday practice session with his national team, he fractured the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. On Monday afternoon he was met by José Mourinho at Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital, where another test was conducted. The medical staff concluded that Marcelo sustained a stress fracture and believe that surgery would shorten his recovery time, a reported three months. The procedure will be performed in Amsterdam by Dr. Van Dijk, who has also worked on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Injury Update: Marcelo
A right foot sprain forced him out of Brazil’s training today. While he hasn’t been officially ruled out of Tuesday’s match, it doesn’t look promising.
Update - October 15, 2012
captainfabfro:
Marcelo hurt his ankle in training and it doesn’t seem like he will be able to play against Japan on tuesday… also, this means that both Marcelo and Coentrão are hurt right now. But for how long? Calling Casado? *

Kaká’s interview for CBF TV
Kaká: I knew about my call in the moment it was announced [in the media]. I felt as happy as the first time I was called on. I’m excited, because I followed all the calls so far… even the ones I knew I wouldn’t be on the list… I wanted to know who were on the team, who would play. I always follow the NT. But this time, that there was some expectations [on being called], I followed it until I finally knew I was on.
I can see a restart [on the NT], specially after all I went through, the injuries, surgeries, not knowing in which physical conditions I would be back [to play]. There were 2 years and some months of preparation to get on shape to be back to the NT… so I see [this call] as a restart.
I wanted to play again [on the NT], but I knew I would have to wait. During some time I was far from being called, due the injuries, for don’t be playing that often… little by little the problems were disappearing, I was returning and the things, now, are getting on track and making my return something possible. Many of them [the new players], didn’t even have met personally, just on TV. Some I had already have contact with, so… it’s very good to see them again, have some chat… the atmosphere in the NT is always good and I belive it will always be like this.
As I said, I’m truly happy for playing again for Brazil, and that’s the point… keep adding personal and coletive objectives, that’s my journey in the NT. I think there are a lot of things I aim to do. I know how the things run in football, everything happens very fast. So one step at a time, I will return, I want reaffirm my position on the NT, conquer my room again, little by little, and then, further, we will see what happens.
Marcelo and Kaká were called up to represent Brazil in their next two friendlies (October 11 versus Iraq; October 16 versus Japan).
