Both the LA Galaxy and Everton posted that they are scheduled to play in Los Angeles for the ICC. This would effectively rule out Real Madrid’s chance to play there, since each city (except Miami) will be hosting only one game.
[I don’t think this will affect the club’s base at UCLA, though.]
The International Champions Cup has not announced any more news at this time, but replies to their Facebook post show that more info will be available “soon”. Everton was actually 1st to break the news but wrongly listed Benfica instead of Valencia as one of the teams.
Some scheduling info provided by Everton:
The first game will take place on Tuesday 30 July in San Francisco. The following Saturday, 3 August, will see the Blues play in Los Angeles, before a third match in Miami on either Tuesday 6 or Wednesday 7 August.
Edited to add: Pre-sale tickets will go on sale May 29th.
“It’s official! The 2013 International Champions Cup will feature 8 of the top clubs in the world, facing off in a two week tournament starting on July 27th!
For the time being he’s still at Madrid and there are two matches left of the season. What happens on the pitch will show if [him going back to Chelsea] was a good idea or not, but when you’re a very well-known coach there is pressure on you anyway.”
“I don’t think his confidence will be dented [from having failed to win any trophies with Real this season]. Obviously he will be disappointed but he still has a lot of trust in what he does and what he says.
I have ambitions. I am very happy doing what I’m doing at the moment; working with youngsters at Real, but I would definitely like to run a club one day. I have no idea which club it would be, but that is definitely my aim.
His contribution to Real’s 2-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the 2002 final was, though, a moment to make up for a million disappointments; that edge-of-the area, air-slashing volley from Roberto Carlos’s first-time cross that restored Real’s lead and had the majority of those in attendance at Hampden Park, as well as millions watching at home, rubbing their eyes in amazement.
“It is the kind of goal that is very difficult to repeat,” confessed its architect. “I have tried to repeat it for advertising campaigns but to no avail – I have never been able to. It was a wonderful moment for me and was fantastic on the night as it helped us win.”
“Michael Essien explains how he became a midfielder having started his career as a central defender, whilst Chelsea players Petr Cech and John Obi Mikel talk about how important he was during their successful time together at Chelsea.”
Since the very first day i got here it seemed like they didn’t want me. Today it feels like everyone wants me to leave the club. I don’t know what I’ve done that is so wrong. We have to find a good solution for both me and the club. If they’re not satisfied with me, no problem. If I will leave Real Madrid I’ll keep my options open.
