Sports radio show Al Primer Toque confirmed that Real Madrid bought €100,000 worth of shares of struggling Segunda B side Real Oviedo. Affected by Spain’s economic crisis, the Asturian club needs to raise €2 million by November 17th in order to keep its doors open. Former players Michu, Santi Cazorla and Juan Mata began their careers there, and all three have purchased shares. In hopes of keeping the club afloat, the SOS Real Oviedo campaign kicked off within the past week. Individual shares are only €11.5. Real Madrid’s shares have since been transferred to the Oviedo council, clearing Madrid of a conflict of interest. According to @RealOviedoNews, six Real Madrid C players have bought shares as well.

Real Madrid Find Opponent for July 24th Friendly

Reports around Spain, including both Marca & AS, say that a match against Real Oviedo will fill the open date left in Madrid’s pre-season calendar. Earlier this month plans fell through for a friendly against Moroccan side Athletic Tétouan. July 24th’s match will be played in Oviedo at Carlos Tartiere. [Summer schedule]

Canceled: Real Madrid’s 1st Friendly in Morocco

Marca has revealed that Real Madrid will play Maghreb Athletic Tetouan on July 24 at Grand Stade de Tanger. This will be Madrid’s first friendly of the preseason. On July 27, the club will travel to Lisbon to face Benfica in the Eusébio Cup held at  Da Luz Stadium. [Update]
